Electric Mahindra Scorpio & Bolero under consideration

Mahindra could be planning to electrify the Scorpio and Bolero in the near future. According to a media report, all vehicles are likely to be Electrified overtime and this may include the Scorpio and Bolero SUVs. The brand has already introduced the Thar.e concept which could be the beginning of the electrification process. This also leads us to believe that like the Thar.e EV concept, the Scorpio and Bolero are also likely to come with an ā€œeā€ suffix in their nomenclature.

Scorpio.e & Bolero.e ā€“ Powertrain

According to reports, the Scorpio.e and Bolero.e are likely to share the powertrain with the Thar.e which could make its debut before the two EV SUVs. The production model of the Thar.e is likely to come with a dual motor setup. The motor on the front axle is likely to produce 109 Hp of power and 135 Nm of torque. While the rear motor is likely to come with a 286 Hp of power and 535 Nm of torque. Thanks to this, the Thar.e SUV also gets AWD capability.

Scorpio.e & Bolero.e ā€“ Range

However, the Scorpio.e and Bolero.e may not come with a dual motor setup and may only come with a rear electric motor. In addition to this, the Scorpio.e and Bolero.e are also likely to come with a 60 kWh or an 80 kWh battery pack. This is likely to offer the SUVs a range of around 325 km on a single charge for the smaller battery option and 435 km on a single charge for the larger battery pack option.

But, to electrify the Scorpio and Bolero will not be as easy as it sounds. The body on ladder construction may require a lot of engineering challenges to accommodate the battery pack and the electric motor. While the Thar.e concept is underpinned by the P1 platform which is a modified version of the INdia GLObal (INGLO) skateboard platform. A similar platform is also likely to underpin the Scorpio.e and Bolero.e.
