Electric Jeep Compass SUV could be showcased in 2024

Jeep is set to unveil the all-electric version of its popular Compass SUV by the end of 2024. This anticipated reveal marks a pivotal moment for the iconic brand as it transitions into the electric vehicle (EV) market.

A New Era for Jeep

Jeep, under the umbrella of its parent company Stellantis, has been making strides in the EV sector. The upcoming electric Compass is expected to be a game-changer, offering a blend of Jeep’s rugged heritage with modern electric technology. This move follows the successful launch of the Jeep Avenger, the brand’s first EV, which debuted in January 2023 primarily for the European market.

Expected Features and Specifications

The electric Jeep Compass will be built on Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform, which promises impressive performance and range. The standard battery pack is expected to offer over 500 km of range, while a performance pack could extend this to over 700 km according to the WLTP cycle. This platform is designed to support various powertrains, including hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) options, providing consumers with a “Freedom of Choice”.

Design and Performance

The electric Compass is anticipated to retain the robust and adventurous spirit that Jeep is known for. It will likely feature a “Trailhawk” trim, catering to off-road enthusiasts with enhanced capabilities to rival models like the Land Rover Defender. The design is expected to be both modern and rugged, appealing to a broad range of consumers looking for a versatile and eco-friendly SUV.

Market Impact and Availability

Jeep’s strategy involves prioritizing the European market for the launch of the electric Compass, with sales expected to begin in 2025. This focus on Europe is part of Jeep’s broader plan to capture significant market share in regions where EV adoption is rapidly increasing. However, Jeep could introduce the Compass EV in India too as they currently do not have any vehicles with the electric powertrain.
