CItroen in planning to bring in the eC3 Aircross SUV by 2025. However, at first, the petrol powered version will go on sale later this year and will be followed by the all-electric variant sometime in 2025. This news of the all-electric variant was confirmed by Citroen’s branding executive Laurent Barria to the media.
The eC3 Aircross will borrow design from the C3 hatch. In fact, it could also pick up cues from the bigger C5 Aircross, which is currently on sale in India. The eC3 Aircross will likely come with big tyres and all-around cladding to add to its butch look.
That said, the C3 Aircross is expected to be slightly bigger than the current version that is sold in the international markets. This means, the SUV could be around 4.3m in length and could rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
Other features on the eC3 could include a large radiator grille, slim LED lights with DRLs placed above the main lights, exposed rear LED tail lights and a boxy design.
On the inside, Citroen could offer a new layout to the eC3 Aircross as compared to the regular C3. It will get a new layout for the touchscreen infotainment system, but retain other bits like the steering wheel, buttons and HVAC controls. The SUV could be offered in 5 and 7-seat options.
As expected, the eC3 Aircross will be underpinned by the eCMP architecture. The PSA’s modular design will enable better packaging and space utilisation amongst others. The same is used in the eC3 electric hatch.
Meanwhile, it is not yet known on the powertrain details of the eC3 Aircross, we can expect something similar to the eC3. Citroen has equipped the eC3 with an electric motor that is mounted at the front. This motor generates 56 BHP and 143 Nm of peak torque. A 29.2 kWh battery pack has been paired with this motor. It gets a 3.3 kWh AC charger. Thanks to the larger size, there could be a bigger battery as compared to the eC3.
