EKA Mobility has announced a new milestone. The electric bus maker has bagged a 310-bus order from CESL. The company announced that they had received a letter of allotment for the procurement, operation, and maintenance of 310 electric buses on gross cost contracting, from Convergence Energy Services Ltd. The order was part of a tender for the procurement of 6,465 electric buses. The state-owned Convergence Energy Services Ltd, a wholly-owned Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) subsidiary under the National e-Bus program Phase 1.
Where will the buses be deployed?
These electric buses will be put into service in the Transport Department Haryana, Department of Transport, Arunachal Pradesh, Kerala State Road Transport Corporation for intra-city operations. The EKA e-buses will match the government’s vision to provide clean, sustainable, and efficient transportation options for millions of people.
These 310 buses will be deployed for the next 12 years. Over these years the buses will help save over 1,40,000 tons of CO2 emissions.
Further, with these 310 buses, the company order book now stands at 500+ e-buses apart from over 5000 electric light commercial vehicle orders.
These e-buses will help create jobs and provide an impetus to the nation’s economic growth. The company also announced that they are committed to working with local communities and governments to ensure a smooth deployment of electric buses.
