Suzuki Motor Corporation revealed its latest offerings, the DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM motorcycles at EICMA 2024. These new models are designed to cater to both dual-purpose and supermoto riding styles. Let’s check out what we can expect from these motorcycles.
The DR-Z4S is a dual-purpose motorcycle, engineered for a wide range of riding experiences from urban commutes to off-road adventures. It features a 398cc, single-cylinder, DOHC engine that produces 38 horsepower and 37 Nm of torque. The bike is equipped with a twin-spar steel frame and KYB suspension with adjustable rebound and compression, ensuring a smooth and stable ride.
On the other hand, the DR-Z4SM is a supermoto bike designed for various riding styles, including daily use and track riding. It shares the same engine as the DR-Z4S but comes with 17-inch wire-spoked wheels and Dunlop rubber tires, providing excellent grip and performance on both paved and off-road surfaces.
Both models are equipped with Suzuki’s Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.), which includes features like Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS) with a dedicated gravel mode, Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS), and ABS OFF mode. These electronic control systems aim to provide riders with optimal performance based on their skill level and riding conditions.
The DR-Z4S boasts a 280mm front suspension travel and 296mm rear suspension travel, making it adept at absorbing shocks during off-road excursions. The DR-Z4SM, with its stiffer suspension setup, enhances cornering performance on paved surfaces. Both bikes come with a 5-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch.
Suzuki has also focused on rider safety and comfort, with features like LED lights, LCD instrument panels, and a modern aesthetic. The bikes are available in a variety of color options, allowing riders to express their personal style.
Sales for the DR-Z4S are expected to begin in April 2025, while the DR-Z4SM will be available from May 2025, primarily targeting the North American and European markets. Currently, there are no plans of these coming to India. We might get to see a few units later next year if Suzuki decides to bring them via the CBU route.
