KTM has unveiled the 390 SMC R supermoto bike at EICMA 2024, adding a new member to its 390 series. The bike is designed to offer a blend of motocross and road racing capabilities, making it a versatile option for riders who enjoy both on-road and off-road adventures.
Powertrain
The 390 SMC R is powered by the same 399cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine found in the KTM 390 Duke. This engine produces 46PS at 8,500rpm and 39Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. The bike features a 6-speed gearbox and a slip-and-assist clutch, ensuring smooth and responsive performance.
Features
One of the standout features of the 390 SMC R is its supermoto-specific design. It shares its styling with the KTM 390 Enduro but has been equipped with road-oriented tyres and wheels. The bike features a flat single-piece seat, tubular handlebars, and angular bodywork with tank extensions, giving it a distinctive look.
The 390 SMC R is equipped with a full LED lighting setup and a TFT display with an 8.8-inch horizontal color screen. The display offers features such as launch control, traction control, riding modes, switchable ABS at the rear, and more. The braking system includes a single front and rear disc, providing reliable stopping power.
Suspension duties are handled by WP USD front forks and a monoshock at the rear, offering long travel and enhanced stability. The bike’s aggressive riding position and high ground clearance make it well-suited for both urban commuting and off-road excursions.
Will it come to India?
KTM has announced that the 390 SMC R will be available in international markets starting early 2025. However, it is unlikely to be launched in India due to the limited demand for supermoto bikes in the country.
