EDel by Mahindra Logistics hires women drivers for last-mile delivery

Mahindra Logistics Limited has been operating its last-mile delivery service under the brand name ‘EDel’ for a while now. The Indian conglomerate has now announced that they have deployed women drivers.

New employment Opportunities

In line with the government of India’s vision of generating employment opportunities, EDel will provide employment to women drivers. The women will be especially trained to operate EVs.

At the event, Suman Mishra, CEO of Mahindra Electric – Last Mile Mobility commented that these three-wheelers are an employment generator for women. This will also help women be an integral part of the electric revolution. The cargo vehicles are smooth, noise-less and have a twist and go operation making it better than conventional ICE vehicles. Further, the reliability is also superior as well as a low  Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

EDel’s all-electric fleet

Currently Mahindra Logistics Limited has over 1000+ electric vehicles. 85% of these are powered by Mahindra Last Mile Mobility 3-wheelers. They have a range of 100+ km with a cargo capacity of 170 cu. Ft. MLL is currently in the process of expanding its fleet with 1000 larger cubic size vehicles over the next 6 months (across India).

Further, the company also plans to add electric two-wheelers in its fleet for delivery of small cargo over short distances. It will launch this as a pilot project in Kochi, within the next six months.

EDel last mile connectivity

EDel will be utilising the operating model of electric vehicles to provide sustainable and competitive service. In comparison with traditional ICE counterparts, EVs will offer better cost to end users.

EDel will be providing multiple offerings like package and trip-based services. The customers will get a scalable, sustainable and cost-efficient solution. EDel is aiming to attract customers from the E-Commerce, FMCG, Pharma, Consumer Durables and Electronics fields to offer efficient and responsible distribution and last-mile delivery solutions.
