Italian Superbike manufacturer Ducati has been developing a street fighter model based on the Panigale V4. Ducati could unveil a concept soon with a production-ready model coming in the next couple of months. Some speculate that the street fighter model could be showcased in the 2019 EICMA show later in November. The engine on the street fighter model will have a slightly de-tuned version of the Panigale V4 engine, more for street use.
A naked version of the Panigale V4 was seen recently at a track day. Ducati might be testing the bikes along with Pikes Peak King of the Mountain Carlin Dunne. According to sources, Ducati has listed its name to enter the upcoming Pikes Peak climb with Carlin Dunne in the saddle. And now, we think the Ducati-Dunne team has decided to use the Panigale V4 based street fighters. Though other details are hard to crack just by looking at the photos. But we can see that the bikes are fitted with a triple clamp mounted handlebar, which might explain why Ducati has listed the bike in the exhibition class, as Pikes Peak does not allow bikes without a single piece handlebar, but the exhibition class allows some flexibility.
The engine on the Ducati Panigale V4 is powered by a Desmosedici Stradale, 90 degree V-4 with a maximum displacement of 1,103cc, 4-valves per cylinder with desmodromic distribution and a counter-rotating crankshaft producing 214 HP @ 13,000 RPM and 122 Nm of torque @ 10,000 RPM. The V4R can make a maximum power of 234 HP @ 15,500 RPM with a full racing Akrapovic exhaust system. The bike is also loaded with cutting edge 6-axis Inertial Measuring Unit (IMU) with the latest generation electronic package along with a pit limiter function.
It will be interesting to watch Ducati this year at Pikes Peak with this naked monster.
