Ducati has announced the launch of the Streetfighter V2 in the country. Thus, making the gateway to Ducati’s sports naked Streetfighter family more accessible for Indians. Though it slots below the bigger Streetfighter V4 and V4 S, it still packs in quite a punch from its L-twin motor. It also combines the Panigale V2’s DNA with the attitude and style of the Streetfighter range.
The Ducati Streetfighter V2 will come with a sticker price of INR 17.25 lakh ex-showroom. It will only be available in Ducati Red colour option. Bookings for the Streetfighter V2 are open across all Ducati dealerships in India. Ducati India also says deliveries for the Streetfighter V2 will begin immediately.
The Streetfighter V2 continues the same design language that made its debut with the Streetfighter V4. However, on the V2, you don’t get the same bi-plane wings that are standard on the Streetfighter V4. At the front, it gets a bi-function LED headlight and a V-shaped LED DRL that Ducati says is inspired by the grin of the Joker. The headlight is also part of a double-layer fairing that integrates the air intakes.
Like the Panigale V2, it uses its engine as the load-bearing element. It is also more compact than the Desmosedici Stradale engine and integrates perfectly with the tank surfaces. Overall, it looks cleaner without the bi-plane wings. However, Ducati does offer them as an option for those who want to get the most out of the Streetfighter V2 on a racetrack.
Being a modern-day Ducati, it comes with a lot of features. The Streetfighter V2 features a 4.3-inch full-TFT instrument cluster which also supports Ducati Multimedia System (DMS). The instrument cluster has intuitive graphics and interfaces for easier navigation through the menus.
The Streetfighter V2 benefits from a host of electronic riding aids to help tame it on the streets and racetrack. Its 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) oversees all electronic controls by measuring the position of the bike in real-time. The IMU then sends all this information to the control units that manage the electronic controls. Some of its electronics include ABS Cornering EVO, Ducati Traction Control (DTC) EVO 2, Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO 2, Engine Brake Control (EBC) EVO and more.
In addition to this, there are three Riding Modes – Wet, Road and Sport. The Riding Modes are also associated with three Power Modes – High, Medium & Low. The High mode offers the full torque curve, the Medium mode offers a softer torque curve, while the Low mode limits the power.
The Streetfighter V2 uses the same 955cc Superquadro 90-degree V-Twin as the Panigale V2. In the Streetfighter, it makes 153 HP of peak power at 10,750 rpm and 101.4 Nm of peak torque at 9,000 rpm. A 6-speed gearbox does transmission duties. It also features a wet clutch with an anti-hopping and progressive servo system that allows limited slippage when braking torque is applied. For clutchless up and downshifts, it features Ducati Quick Shift Up / Down EVO 2.
As for the suspension, it gets Showa’s fully-adjustable Big Piston Fork (BPF) at the front. It also features a Sachs steering damper to keep tank slappers at bay. Meanwhile, it uses a side-mounted fully-adjustable Sachs shock absorber at the rear.
Taking care of braking is a pair of 320mm discs with Brembo M4.32 monobloc callipers at the front. On the other end, it uses a 245mm disc with a two-piston Brembo calliper. Ducati says the brake pads have a less aggressive bit than the Panigale V2 to better suit road use.
The Streetfighter V2 rides on 5-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels. As for tyres, it gets Pirelli’s Diablo Rosso IV tyres which measure 120/70-section in the front and 180/60-section at the back.
