Ducati DesertX Design Highlights

The overall styling is similar to the concept motorcycle that was showcased in 2019. Thus we get to see a twin-pod headlight, a tall windscreen, a semi-fairing design, and a 21-litre fuel tank. Other key design elements include split-style seats, side-slung exhaust, bash plate, and tubeless-tyre compatible wire-spoke wheels. This Ducati gets some off-road-focussed hardware equipment. The motorcycle comes with a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel combination that wears the Pirelli-sourced Scorpion Rally STR tyres.

In terms of the feature list, DesertX is at par with its rivals. The motorcycle comes packed with full-LED lighting and a Bluetooth-enabled five-inch TFT display as standard. The instrument cluster works in tandem with the Ducati Multimedia System and offers access to functions such as music, incoming/outgoing calls, and Turn-by-Turn navigation (optional). The equipped electronic rider aids comprise six riding modes namely, Sport, Touring, Urban, Wet, Rally, and Enduro. There are also four power modes which are, Full, High, Medium, and Low. Other key features include cruise control, Bosch IMU, engine brake control, traction control, wheelie control, bidirectional quick-shifter, and cornering ABS.

Ducati DesertX Engine Specifications

DesertX gets a 937cc, L-Twin, liquid-cooled engine that it shares with the new Monster and Multistrada V2. Ducati is offering a six-speed gearbox with this motor. The performance figure of this motor reads as 110 BHP and 92 Nm.

The suspension duties are taken care of by KYB-sourced 46mm fully-adjustable front forks with 230mm travel. For the rear, we have a KYB fully-adjustable monoshock with 220mm travel. Braking power comes from twin 320mm discs with Brembo M50 monobloc radial callipers at the front and a single 265mm rotor with a Brembo double-piston floating calliper at the back.

Ducati DesertX Rivals

The new DesertX will compete against the likes of Triumph Tiger 900 Rally, Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin, and BMW F850 GS in the Indian market.
