Dual front airbags standard on Maruti Eeco

One of India’s most successful automakers, Maruti Suzuki, has announced that it will make dual front airbags standard on the Eeco. The Eeco is one of Maruti Suzuki’s longest-running products, which has completed a decade in the Indian market. Offered in either 5 or 7-seater configurations, Maruti Suzuki has also revised the prices of the Eeco post the announcement. With a new passenger airbag, the Eeco now costs INR 4.38 lakh (ex-showroom).

Maruti Suzuki Eeco: Design Highlights 

The Maruti Suzuki Eeco is essentially a revised yet simplified version of the Versa, which Maruti sold back in 2001. The van sports a boxy design with simple projector headlights and rear taillights along with 13-inch steel wheels. Other exterior elements of the Eeco include black plastic-clad bumpers, coloured graphics on the doors, and 6 colour options. These include Solid White, Cerulean Blue, Pearl Midnight Black, Metallic Glistening Grey, Uptown Red, and Metallic Silky Silver.

Maruti Suzuki Eeco: Technical Specs 

Powering the Maruti Suzuki Eeco is a 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated, four-cylinder, petrol engine which produces 73 PS and 98 Nm. Additionally, Maruti Suzuki also offers a CNG option on the Eeco, which puts out 62 PS and 85 Nm. The automaker offers a 5-speed manual transmission for both variants of the Eeco. Measuring 3675mm in length, 1475mm in width, and 1825mm in height, the van sports an overall wheelbase of 2350mm. The Eeco sports a front disc brake with a drum brake at the back and a 40-litre fuel tank.

Recently, Maruti Suzuki has announced plans to unveil 5 new SUVs for the Indian market over the period of 3 years. Sources reveal that the upcoming new SUV would compete with other three-row SUVs sold in the country. These include the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, MG Hector Plus, and Kia’s upcoming new Carens MPV.

Additionally, Maruti Suzuki will likely introduce a mid-size, 5-seater SUV to rival the Hyundai Creta. Sources reveal that Maruti Suzuki is likely to bring a new sub-compact SUV that would compete with the Kia Sonet and the Hyundai Venue. The automaker has also launched the new Celerio and working on launching the updated Baleno and the new Vitara Brezza.
