DSK plans Keeway motorcycles in India by 2015

DSK Motowheels is on a roll!

With the Benelli brand all set to enter the Indian two-wheeler space, DSK has already announced plans of getting to grips with the market with a new manufacturing facility being setup in Maharashtra. DSK Motowheels already has Hyosung apart from Benelli in their two-wheeler portfolio. But seems like this isn’t enough.

DSK Motowheels is now planning to bring the Keeway mototcycle brand to India by mid-2015.

Benelli is owned by Qianjiang Group of China and so is Keeway. This explains why DSK Motowheels might be showing interest in getting the brand here. Keeway has motorcycles, scooters, ATVs, EVs, etc. in their line-up. But what DSK wants to bring to India first is the Blackster cruiser motorcycle.

The Blackster 250i cruiser is powered by an air-cooled, 4-stroke, 2-cylinder, 249cc petrol motor producing 19 BHP of power @ 8,500 RPM and 18.7 Nm of torque @ 5,750 RPM mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

Keeway Blackster 250i features:

  • Typical cruiser like body style
  • Round headlamp
  • Dual chrome exhaust pipes
  • Chrome finished telescopic front fork
  • Coil spring rear suspension
  • Split seats
  • Front and rear disc brakes
  • Alloy wheels
  • XL size rear mud-guard
  • Speedometer on the fuel tank

DSK plans to launch this bike in India by June-July 2015. Primary competitor will be from the same DSK Motowheels house, the Hyosung Aquila 250.

Good times ahead for the Indian two-wheeler industry.
