A luxury compact-SUV, or rather, a crossover, the DS 7 Crossback was recently spotted testing on Indian soil. Now this car belongs to the Groupe PSA, and this is the first time this car was spotted here. Peugeot has been trying for a very long time to re-enter the Indian market, but they have not found the right partner and opportunity yet. So this car being spotted, doesn’t really mean an imminent launch.
The DS 7 Crossback was first launched in 2017. Based on the EMP2 platform, this car runs on a petrol and diesel engine option. You can either opt for a 1.2L or 1.6L petrol motor while there is an option of a 1.5L or 2.0L diesel engine for the DS7 Crossback. It is being said that the DS 7 might be here to test out a few parts for the Citroen C5 Aircross, which could possibly be launched in our market. Long time for that to happen though.
In India, these Groupe PSA cars will be brought in via the CKD route. It will be very difficult to penetrate in a tight market now, but given that the product is right, in terms of luxury and driveability, it could work. Who knows…
