BMW, Mercedes-Benz & Volkswagen go digital in India for sales & service amidst COVID-19

German car manufacturers Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz and BMW have announced that to go contactless by creating an online sales and service platform. In the new era of social distancing where human interaction is being minimised a lot of carmakers are adopting this type of policies to not only protect their customers and staff but also to bring the ease of buying a motor vehicle with simple steps using an online platform. 

Volkswagen has initiated the service and interested customers can buy Volkswagen cars by logging on to the official company website. The brand has integrated 137 sales and 116 service touchpoints that enable the customer’s flexibility of the services from the comfort ad safety of their homes. 

For online retail, customers can browse the products, explore details, choose the prefered dealership and also interact with a virtual assistant to finalise their choice. This can also be done if a customer wants to service their vehicle. The customer can also choose the preferred time slot for pick-up and delivery as well as if they wish to visit the showroom or the workshop in person. Volkswagen also sanitises their workshops and all the cars to ensure customer and staff safety.

Mercedes-Benz has announced the launch of their online sales portal where customers can book and purchase Mercedes-Benz cars online as well as get them delivered at their doorstep with the convenience and safety of their home. Mercedes-Benz has also launched the ‘Live Mercedes-Benz Video Consultation Studio’ for interactive e-demonstration of their products. The brand also has an online sales concierge available from 10 am to 12 midnight.

The digital sales platform from Mercedes-Benz is called ‘Merc from Home’ and the initiative facilitates not only the purchase of new cars but also allows the customers to book service appointments which include complimentary pick-up and drop. Mercedes-Benz also provides the ‘On The Road’ cost of the vehicle and its availability to its prospective buyers to keep things transparent. 

BMW India has also launched a contactless online sales platform for its new as well as pre-owned cars. The contactless system has been initiated in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, to protect BMW customers and staff. With the new online platform, customers can personalise their preferred BMW and have their queries on the product, services and also the financial options. 

The cars can be viewed virtually using a smartphone, a tablet or a personal computer and after a thorough sanitation process, the car can be delivered at the customers home or avoiding any physical contact.
