Earlier this year, Citroen launched the C3 Aircorss in India. This was a global debut of the C3 Aircross. Now, the French carmaker has already commenced working on its new product. This is nothing but a crossover sedan dubbed as the C3X. This will have a higher ground cleaner and will be based on the C3. The test mule was heavily camouflaged but some details can be made out.
The car appears to be in a developmental phase. The front and rear of the vehicle appear to be work in progress. Some of the panels including the front doors, front fenders are the same as the C3. This means, upto the B-pillar, the C3X will share parts with its SUV sibling. The real differentiation will begin at the rear. In terms of shape, it appears to get a fastback profile on the sides.
On the inside, Citroen could offer unique designed parts and upholstery in different colours to separate the C3 Aircross and the C3X. However, don’t expect any drastic changes to the interiors as they are likely to share most if not all the interior parts.
The C3X will be the 3rd product of the French carmaker to be based on the India-specific CMP modular platform. The other two model include the C3 and the C3 Aircross. It will hence likely share the power plants with these aforementioned models as well. Hence, it will come with a 110 HP 1.2-litre turbo petrol and a choice of manual or automatic gearbox.
Citroen could also offer an all-electric version of the C3X like the C3.
All things considered, the official name of the car is not yet revealed and some reports indicate that it could be named as the Citroen C3X Fastlounge.
