French carmaker Citroen recently announced the bookings for the electric version of the C3 hatchback. While this electric car is expected to be sold to private customers, a new type approval rating has surfaced online which shows that it could be sold to fleet operators as well.
The document reveals a Speed Limit function (SLF), which is mandatory on commercial vehicles. This restricts the top speed of the yellow plate vehicles to 80 km/h as mandated by the government authorities.
The Citroen eC3 is nothing but the all-electric variant of the C3. Visually, the eC3 looks identical to the petrol counterpart. Infact even the front end has no distinguishing features. Even the grille looks un-blanked, which for EVs is usually covered.
The only true rival to Citroen’s product is the Tata Tiago EV, but the brand claims that they slot in a notch higher. Citroen C3 electric’s launch is a part of the company’s smart car programme, referred to as the C-cubed programme.
Offered in two variants, namely the Live and Feel, it gets features like a three-spoke steering wheel, height adjustable driver’s seat and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The car also boasts over 35 connected car features.
Citroen has equipped the eC3 with an electric motor that is mounted at the front. This motor generates 56 BHP and 143 Nm of peak torque. A 29.2 kWh battery pack has been paired with this motor. It gets a 3.3 kWh AC charger.
The coming claims a 0-60 km/h time of 6.8 seconds with a top speed of 107 Km/h. The claimed ARAI range is 320 km. The battery takes 10.5 hours to charge using a home charger while it takes just 57 mins for a 10-80 percent top up using a DC fast charger.
