Citroen India reveals Basalt SUV Coupe, Tata Curvv rival

Citroen India has revealed the Basalt SUV coupe. This innovative vehicle combines the sleek elegance of a coupe with the robust practicality of an SUV, creating a new segment in the Indian automotive market.

Design and Proportions

The Citroen Basalt stands out with its unique coupe silhouette, characterized by smooth, flowing lines that convey a sense of motion even when stationary. The roofline stretches seamlessly to the trunk lid, ensuring both aesthetic appeal and practical functionality.

  • Sculpted Clamshell Bonnet: Adds a muscular yet elegant touch, enhancing the vehicle’s dynamic stance.
  • Integrated Logo and Light Signature: Glossy black detailing with chrome inserts connects the Citroen logo with the light signature, adding elegance.
  • 3D-Effect Air Intake Grilles: These grilles provide a sense of strength and sophistication, visually widening the vehicle.

Robust SUV Elements

From every angle, the Basalt incorporates strong SUV codes:

  • Strong Fenders: Enhance the car’s stance on the road and provide a robust look around the wheels.
  • Geometric Wheel Arches: Add to the vehicle’s rugged character.

The tailgate design increases the perceived width of the vehicle, with a horizontal wing effect that continues to the rear. Floating blades integrated into the tail lamps and vertical aerodynamic edges enhance the Basalt’s efficiency and assert its SUV character.

Attention to Detail

The Basalt features several design details that blend style with functionality:

  • Silver Skid Plates: Located in the lower area of the front and rear bumpers, providing protection and adding a technical signature.
  • X-Shaped Split DRLs: The front headlights are combined with LED-Vision projector headlamps, enhancing visibility and adding a distinctive look.
  • Rear Light Signature: The rear headlights feature three light stripes that create a depth effect, contributing to a magical visual appeal.
  • Color Clips: Discreet color clips near the rear windows and on the front bumper add contrast and elegance, a hallmark of Citroën’s design DNA.

The Citroen Basalt will be launched on 2nd August. This will be just five days before the launch of it competitor the Tata Curvv. The Basalt and Curvv are the only coupe SUVs in the segment. We will soon find out how they stack up against each other.
