French car manufacturer Citroen has joined hands with Electric Vehicle ride hailing aggregator, BluSmart in India. Citroen will be working together with BluSmart which not only has an all-electric fleet of cars but is also an EV charging service provider. Under the partnership, BluSmart will deploy 4,000 Citroen e-C3 electric compact SUVs expanding its fleet of electric vehicles. As part of its initial phase, the brand has already flagged off 125 Citroen e-C3’s from BluSmart’s EV charging hub in Bangalore.
The Citroen e-C3 offers a range of 320 km on a single charge and is capable of recharging in less than an hour. Thanks to the ARAI tested range and Citroen’s fast charging capability, the turn-around-time of the vehicle is reduced, a much important factor in fleet operations. The Citroen e-C3 also offers the brand’s infamous Advanced Comfort Program which integrates space and intuitive technology to make the ride comfortable for all passengers. The e-C3 also comes with a 315-litre boot space to cater to the luggage carrying requirements.
Thanks to the new MoU, Citroen and BluSmart will help reduce the carbon emissions, especially in metro cities like Delhi NCR and Bangalore. BluSmart EVs have completed over 12.5 million trips covering 410 million clean kilometres. Since its inception, the company claims to have saved 30 million kgs of CO2. The brand also owns and operates EV charging stations in Delhi NCR and Bangalore. BluSmart has 4,400 charging point in 36 superhubs in the two megacities.
BluSmart claims to be the first company in India with a commitment to “Decarbonise Mobility at Scale”. With the supply of Citroen’s e-C3, BluSmart is looking at expanding its fleet from its current 7,000 vehicles. According to the MoU Citroen will be delivering a total of 4,000 units of the e-C3 to BluSmart over the period of 12 months.
