Citroen unveils a new offering in the small light commercial vehicle segment. ‘My Ami Cargo’ cannot be called a car since it weighs just 425 kg without the battery pack. As the name implies, this vehicle will see itself in the commercial segment. Interestingly, Citroen also removed the passenger seat to make up more space inside the vehicle to carry more cargo. Like the regular Ami, this vehicle also gets a 5.5-kWh lithium-ion battery that powers the electric motor to make just 8 horses. Given the rising fuel price and increasing carbon footprint globally, most countries are moving towards electric vehicles. As compared to their counterparts, EVs are much more efficient and provide zero tail-pipe emission.
EVs Are Becoming Mainstream In Commercial Segment
Another positive aspect of My Ami is its physical dimensions. My Ami Cargo measures just 2.41 meters in length, 1.39 meters in width and 1.52 meter in height. This is the perfect vehicle for crowded metropolitan cities. The turning radius of 7.2 meters does make the vehicle much more practical and agile. The maximum payload capacity is 140 kg, and the maximum volume that can fit in is 400 litres. Citroen equipped this vehicle with a two-way adjustable floor which increases the versatility. There’s also a modular shelf and a vertical partition between the driver and cargo area. This is a cargo-specific model, and thus, it gets only one seat, which is for the driver.
Price And Availability
A regular household socket can fully charge the My Ami Cargo in just 3 hours. The driving range stands at 75 kilometres which is enough for urban cargo duties. My Ami Cargo will slot in the small commercial segment in Europe. This segment includes the likes of the Volkswagen Caddy, Renault Kangoo, Peugeot Partner and more. The car has a sticker price of EUR 6,490 in its home country, France. My Ami Cargo will make it to the US market only via Stellantis through its Free2Move car-sharing and rental service.
