Maruti has revealed that it will start accepting pre-launch bookings for the soon to be launched Ciaz sedan starting from 3rd September, 2014. Booking amount for the Ciaz will be Rs. 21,000.
After the Baleno and the SX4 failing to make their presence felt in the C2 segment sedan space, Maruti is betting big on the Ciaz. It will be powered by a 1.4L, 4-cylinder K series petrol engine producing around 95 PS of power and the 1.3L, Fiat-sourced Multijet engine which would produce around 90 PS of power. Both engines will be mated to a manual. For convenience seekers, there is an automatic variant available with the petrol engine option.
The Ciaz is expected to have the same variant nomenclature which is Lxi / Ldi, Vxi / Vdi and Zxi / Zdi. However, a recent scoop image has revealed that there will be a Zdi+ variant on offer. Variant wise details are still some time away, but we know that the car will feature 4 chrome slats on the front grille, bi-xenon projector headlamps, ORVMs with turn indicators and power fold function, 16″ multi-spoke alloy wheels, blackened B-pillar, recessed reflectors on the rear bumper, wrap around tail lamps, windscreen mounted antenna etc.
On the inside, the Ciaz will get beige and black interiors, a big touchscreen head unit, automatic climate control, steering mounted audio controls, push start / stop button, ac vents for the rear passengers etc.
Expect pricing to be in the range of Rs. 7 lakh – Rs. 9 lakh (ex-showroom).
