In April 2024, technology company Xiaomi took the wraps off the updated SU7, a C-class technology sedan in the International markets. The Chinese brand’s latest electric vehicle came with what the brand claims as perfect proportions including wheel-to-axel, wheel height, and height-to-width aspect ratios. In addition to this, Xiaomi also reveals that the SU7 features smooth body curves and a low stance.
Now, reports reveal that Xiaomi could be planning to bring the electric sedan to the Indian market. One of the biggest consumer product businesses has showcased the SU7 in Bengaluru, India as part of its 10-year of business in the Indian market. While much of the brand’s business revolves around consumer electronics and mostly smartphones, the EV business is quite booming and Xiaomi could be planning to launch the SU7 here.
Powering the Xiaomi SU7 is a dual motor setup with a combined output of 663 BHP of power and 838 Nm of torque. The dual motors are paired to a 101 kWh battery that claims a CLTC battery range of 800 km on a single charge. The Xiaomi SU7 also claims a 0-100 Kmph sprint in just 2.78 seconds and a top speed of 265 Kmph. The Xiaomi SU7 is 4,997 mm in length, 1,963mm in width and 1,445 mm tall and comes with a 3,000 mm wheelbase. The trunk comes with large 517-litres of space while the frunk has 105-litres of space. The Xiaomi SU7 also comes with a low coefficient of drag of 0.195.
If Xiaomi launches the SU7 sedan in the Indian market, the electric vehicle will directly compete with the BYD Seal performance electric sedan. In the Chinese market, the SU7 rivals the Tesla Model 3. In mainland China, the Xiaomi SU7 comes with a starting price tag of CNY 215,900 which translates to INR 25,00,000 (Approx). However, import duties and taxes are likely to bump its prices if the EV is launched here in India.
