Hyundai has inaugurated its first 180 kW DC fast charging station for public electric-powered vehicles (EV) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The fast charging station in Chennai comprises of a 150 kW and 30 kW connectors. The new fast charging station installed in Chennai is located at the Spencer Plaza Mall in Anna Salai, Thousand Lights. The new charging station is also in close vicinity of coffee shops, restaurants and shopping avenues.
The 180 kW fast charger is the only public EV fast charging station currently installed in Chennai and is a first in the company’s target of installing a total of 100 fast public EV charging stations. Hyundai also revealed that the fast charging stations will be installed at key highways and cities across the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
The new fast charging station will benefit all electric vehicle customers offering them a quick charging experience. EV owners can use the fast charging station thanks to Hyundai’s own Charger Management System in the myHyundai App. In addition to this, EV owners can easily access the location and navigate to the charging station. Also, customers can pre-book charging slots as well as make digital payments and monitor the vehicle’s charging status remotely.
Currently, there are more than 170 charging points available in Tamil Nadu which have been mapped in the “EV Charge” section of myHyundai app. The charging stations are open and accessible to all Hyundai as well as non-Hyundai EV users, revealed the brand.
The addition of fast charging stations in strategic locations will not only enhance the EV ecosystem but also motivate more customers towards EV adoption. The Fast EV Charging Station is also in line with Hyundai’s vision of ‘Progress for Humanity’ and aims to enhance the convenience of all electric vehicle users.
