Yamaha has announced the all-new R1 GYTR for the European market. Though the track-exclusive motorcycle looks similar to the stock YZF-R1, it gets a host of upgrades and parts from GYTR for faster lap times around a race track.
Genuine Yamaha Technologies Racing (GYTR) built this track-only R1. The same firm also builds bikes for Yamaha racers to practice on. The firm also sponsors the GRT Yamaha WSBK team as well as Yamaha Austria Racing Team.
Interested buyers can purchase the R1 GYTR exclusively via GYTR Pro Shops, which are all located abroad. From now on, Yamaha will also introduce various GYTR Pro race parts. In total, GYTR will develop over 400 parts. Yamaha will announce pricing for all these parts later this year.
The track-only bike gets a host of additional parts. It also ditches the standard fairings in favour of lightweight glass fibre carbon reinforced race cowling. The bodywork is unpainted, and buyers can use it as a blank canvas to display their sponsors or their unique design. It continues to use the same 998cc 4-cylinder Corssplane engine as the stock Yamaha R1. However, it gets a new titanium Akrapovic exhaust system for more power.
The R1 GYTR also gets a new advanced electronics package. This includes a lightweight wiring harness and GYTR programmable ECU. The latter lets you set up the bike to achieve the best performance. The GYTR ECU lets you adjust the level of its slide, lift and engine braking settings and more. Other new parts include a GYTR ABS Emulator, GYTR R-Series 520 racing chain and 15/42T sprockets, Brembo Z04 brake pads, GYTR Stainless Steel Brake Line Set and much more.
The Pro package will include a host of additional parts. These include a new swingarm, carbon rear subframe, Marelli electronics, a side steering damper with bracket and clamp, air ducts for brake callipers and much more.
