Yamaha has announced the release of a new scooter for the Japanese market, X-Force. The Japanese company has built the scooter as a sporty, fun, comfortable and also convenient scooter. It is the perfect option for work commutes and for having fun. Hence, the scooter gets the “Master of Street Scooter” label. The label is similar to what Yamaha uses for its street-naked motorcycles. The MT-line of bikes gets the “Master of Torque” label.
The new scooter will retail for JPY 396,000 MSRP. Though Yamaha has just released the X-Force for the Japanese market, the model was already available in Taiwan as the X-Force 2.0. The X-Force and X-Force 2.0 are identical scooters. However, the Japanese-spec X-Force gets different colour combinations.
Though the scooter gets new styling, there are more than a few bits it shares with Yamaha’s other scooters. Powering the X-Force is a 155cc liquid-cooled fuel-injected single-cylinder engine. The scooter also gets Yamaha’s VVA and Blue Core technology. These help in delivering a broader spread of torque across the rev range. Making the engine more efficient are the offset and DiASil cylinders and also forged pistons. Additionally, it also gets a Smart Motor Generator (SMG). The engine is similar to the one we see on the Aerox 155 available in India. However, Yamaha has not disclosed the power and torque figures for the X-Force. Hence, we are unsure if there is any difference in the power figures.
Unlike the Aerox 155, the X-Force gets a conventional floorboard. Hence, it is not a maxi-scooter. According to Yamaha, the X-Force gets a newly built chassis. The company has also loaded the scooter with modern features. These include a traction control system, Bluetooth connectivity and a dedicated app. Because of the connectivity features, the X-Force is ideal for the urban environment. The LCD instrument cluster, when paired to a smartphone, can display incoming calls, message alerts, and also the phone’s battery levels. The Yamaha Motorcycle Connect mobile app also uses push notifications to remind users of maintenance intervals, fuel usage, etc.
The Yamaha X-Force is a compact scooter. It measures 1,895 mm in length, 760 mm in width and 1,120 mm in height. The seat is also accessible at 815 mm. Unlike the Aerox 155, the X-Force gets a 230mm disc brake with a single-piston calliper at the rear. At the same time, the front uses a 267mm disc brake with a dual-piston calliper. The X-Force tips the scales at 130 kg.
