Mahindra has introduced the new XUV700 Gold Edition for Paralympian Avani Lekhra. The special XUV700 Gold Edition has been made to specifications felicitating Avani Lekhra’s performance in a “10m air rifle standing” event at the Tokyo Paralympic 2021. Mahindra boasts that in a first of its kind attempt to create a custom-made new XUV700. This new Mahindra XUV700 Gold Edition caters to the accessibility needs as well as design elements to immortalize the historic performance by Avani.
The custom-made Mahindra XUV700 Gold Edition is equipped with a special seat that has two operations – Forward and Return. The co-driver seat of the special edition XUV700 moves out of the vehicle and lowers down to ensure easy ingress and egress in the Forward Mode. The seat also features a lowering function that addresses a critical challenge faced by the specially-abled. This feature decreases the ingress and egress height and allows a smooth shift from the regular wheelchair to the special seat.
Pratap Bose, EVP and Chief Design Officer, Mahindra and Mahindra, designed the special vehicle. The Mahindra XUV700 AX7L in midnight black colour features many gold accents inside and out, commemorating the gold medalist. Mahindra has embossed Avani’s achievement as a badge on the fender and tailgate, as well as a golden thread embroidery on all six headrests along with the dashboard.
The XUV700 also comes with gold plated vertical slats on the already elegant front grille. To distinguish the SUV, the Gold Edition XUV700 also carries gold plated vertical slats on the front grille. Furthermore, the new Mahindra SUV logo also features Satin Gold plating as well as Gold accents on seats and IP Panel.
The Mahindra XUV700 Gold Edition in the AX7 variant comes with 7-seats and starts at INR 18.63 lakh ex-showroom. The Luxury pack starts with INR 21 lakh ex-showroom. The optional Luxury variant comes with electrically deployed Smart Door Handles, Immersive 3D Sound by Sony, Wireless Charging for smartphones, 360-degree Surround View, Blind View Monitoring, Electronic Park Brake, Driver Knee Airbag, Passive Keyless Entry and Continuous Digital Video Recording. The AX7 also comes with a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine and an option of a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine.
