Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer Honda has recently announced the launch of its all-new 2023 Dax ST125 Minimoto for the European market. This launch continues Honda’s legacy of offering a range of mini motorcycles like the Grom and the Monkey 125. Catering to old and young riders alike, the all-new reimagined Dax ST125 retains the authenticity of the 1969 original. The mini-motorcycle now features an all-new chassis, engine, and ergonomics whilst retaining the retro factor from the old days.
Honda states that while the Dax is small, its proportions provide enough room for two adults to ride whilst being comfortable. Meanwhile, the 2023 Dax ST125 features an iconic T-shaped frame design that houses the 3.8-litre fuel tank. The mini-motorcycle also sports a thick dual seat, chrome high-set handlebars, and a 1970’s dirt bike-inspired upswept muffler. Additionally, Honda has equipped the new Dax ST125 with a drilled, slotted and chromed heat shield for enhanced protection.
The Minimoto’s mid-section of the frame sports a black stripe with ‘Dax’ lettering placed next to the classic Honda logo. Other details of the new Dax ST125 include the round LED headlights, a round LCD display, and LED taillights. Honda will offer the 2023 Dax ST125 in two colour options – Pearl Nebula Red and Pearl Cadet Grey in Europe. As a unique finishing touch, the Minimoto features a cartoon image of a Dachshund, thanks to its overall stature.
Powering the all-new Dax ST125 is a 124cc, air-cooled SOHC, 4-stroke, 2-valve engine, producing 9.25 PS and 10.8 Nm. Honda has paired this engine to a 4-speed rotary-type transmission with a Wet Multiplate, Automatic transmission with a Centrifugal Clutch. The mini-motorcycle also sports 5-spoke, cast aluminium wheels that are 12-inches in size at the front and rear. Overall, the 2023 Dax ST125 sports a kerb weight of 107 Kg and a turning radius of 2 metres.
For a balanced ride, the Dax ST125 features 31mm, telescopic USD front forks with 100mm of axle travel. This works in tandem with the twin shock rear suspension with 120mm of axle travel and the press backbone frame. With a seat height of 775mm, ground clearance of 180mm, the Dax ST125 sports a 1,020mm wheelbase.
