Check out the Triumph Trident 660 special edition

Triumph Motorcycles has launched the Triumph Trident 660 Triple Tribute Edition in the United Kingdom. The special edition Trident 660 commemorates ‘Slippery Sam’ the legendary Triumph motorcycle that won five consecutive Isle of Man TT races from 1971 to 1975. The middle-weight roadster in its special edition, features a new paint theme and comes with special features as standard.

What is the Isle of Man TT and Who was ‘Slippery Sam’?

The new Trident 660 Triple Tribute celebrates Triumph’s racing excellence at the World’s Most Dangerous Motorsport Race. The Tourist Trophy race is a motorcycle racing event run on the Isle of Man in the UK. The annual event draws fans from around the world to experience its unique atmosphere. Slippery Sam was one of three motorcycles that Triumph built for production-class road racing in the 1970’s. The name was acquired due to an engine problem which led to its oil escaping and covering the motorcycle, during a 24-hour race in France.

Triumph Trident 660 Triple Tribute Edition – New Features

The Triumph Trident 660 Tribute edition motorcycle comes with a trim-colour paint theme in Red, White and Blue. The new tribute theme also adorns the original Slippery Sam’s race number – ’67’ on the side of its tank. The motorcycle also comes with a Triumph Shift-Assist (Quickshifter), a fly screen with the number ’67’ graphics and a colour-matched belly pan as standard. The motorcycle obviously carries over other features such as Riding Modes, Colour TFT Display, Traction Control, ABS etc.

Triumph Trident 660 Triple Tribute Edition – Powertrain

In the mechanical department, the Triumph Trident 660 Tribute Edition remain the same. Powering the motorcycle is a liquid-cooled 660cc in-line three-cylinder engine. The motor develops 80 Bhp of power and 64 Nm of torque. The engine comes with a 6-speed gearbox.

Triumph Trident 660 Triple Tribute Edition – Price

In the United Kingdom, the Triumph Trident 660 Triple Tribute Edition comes with a price tag of GBP 7,895 MSRP. Triumph is not yet announced if the brand will bring the special edition motorcycle for Isle of Man fans in the Indian market. However, if the brand launches the Tribute Edition Trident 660 in India, it is likely to demand a slight premium over the standard motorcycle which retails starting at INR 8.25 lakh ex-showroom.
