Mitsubishi has previewed the D:X Concept at the Japan Mobility Show in Japan. Could this concept be the future of the Mitsubishi Delica? The 6-seater van features a futuristic design along with technology including electrified powertrain.
According to the Japanese carmaker, the D:X Concept combines the large cabin space of an MPV along with the road handling features of an SUV. In terms of design the concept comes with Mitsubishi’s Dynamic Shield front fascia, a skid plate and LED DRLs.
The Concept also comes with sturdy fenders, while the exterior gets a copper paint shade. Mitsubishi has also equipped the D:X Concept with a roof box and T-shaped LED Tail lamps.
The D:X comes with a 2+2+2 seating configuration. Amongst these, the front seats can swivel around to face the rear occupants. Additionally, the car gets a see-through bonnet which works in sync with VR to show what is present in front of the wheels.
The driver gets a flat-bottom and flat-top steering wheel which is finished in brown leather. The dashboard comes with a central display that also displays all the required information. The car also comes with a digital instrument cluster along with an interactive AI based concierge amongst others.
Fellow coglomerete Yamaha has also had a role in the development of the D:X. The company has developed a special music system that also features speakers housed in the headrests.
While all details have not yet been released, the Japanese carmaker has suggested that the car will come with an PHEV system with an electric 4WD. The powertrain is said to be environmentally friendly.
That said, it is not yet known it the brand plans to make a comeback in India. At present, the Japanese carmaker is no longer selling their offering in India.
