Ferrari has revealed the SF90 XX Stradale & Spider supercars. These track-focused cars from the Prancing Horse stable are the first street legal cars to get the XX badge. The Spider is nothing but the open roof version of the SF90 XX Stradale.
In terms of design, the SF90 XX now comes with an aggressive looking kit. It includes a front splitter, bonnet vents and fender louvres. Towards the back the cars come with new tail lights, updated diffuser and a large rear spoiler.
The XX badge has been used since 2005 starting with Enzo-based FXX, However, only the heavily track-focused cars carried it.
All the aero has resulted in an increased downforce. in comparison, the total weight has gone down by around 10 kg – the car now weights 1,560 kg compared to the regular SF. Major weight savings come from the new seats and updates to the engine. The seats look like race car buckets, but they have a hidden trim that hides the gap between the base and the back. This will offer greater comfort on road use.
Ferrari has equipped the SF90 XX with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. The engine is supported by three electric motors. Together, the output of the system is 1016 HP. In comparison, the regular SF90 offers 986 HP.
Updates of the engine include new pistons, a machined combustion chamber and polished inlet and exhaust ducts. The electric motors now make 229 HP.
Transmission duties are handled by an eight-speed dual clutch gearbox. This gearbox now has an updated software. The 0-100 km/h time is 2.3 seconds and the car will hit a top speed of 320 km/h. The SF90 XX also gets a new Qualifying mode. This offers more power when coming out of corners, thereby reducing the lap times.
