Check out the Brabus 1300 R Edition 23 limited edition bike

Written by Kanad Kalasur

When we hear the name Brabus, we are only reminded of the tuned Mercedes G-wagens and other AMG models. But, the German tuning company has unveiled its latest offering, the 1300 R Edition 23. No, this is not any Mercedes, and it is not even a car, instead it is a heavily reworked KTM 1290 Super Duke R EVO. As expected, this is a limited edition model and only 300 units of the same will be sold to the public. Bookings commence February 16, 2023

What’s new in the Brabus 1300 R Edition 23?

The KTM bike has been reworked both in terms of its looks as well as mechanical changes. First up, the bike now looks like a neo-retro offering rather than an aggressive streetfighter. The 1330 R Edition 23 gets a circular headlamp, carbon fibre tank cover and more carbon fibre bits all around the bike. Brabus has also replaced the seat with a much neater unit with quilted stitching. The bike now comes with a wide handlebar and bar-end mirrors. Brabus has even gone ahead and replaced the footpegs, clutch and brake levers with custom CNC-machined parts.

Also gone is the KTM’s TFT screen which has been replaced by Brabus’ inhouse display. Other features like heated grips, cruise control, and rider aids have not been altered.

In terms of suspension, the bike now comes with WP’s semi-active upside-down forks at the front and a rear monoshock. The front also gets a steering damper. Braking setup consists of Brembo Sytlema kits on forged rims. Brabus has offered Bridgestone S22 tyres on the 1300 R Edition 23.

Brabus is offering the bike in a choice of two colours. These are Superblack and Stealth Grey. The company will offer 145 units of each to the public.

Powertrain of the Brabus 1300 R Edition 23

In terms of the engine size, Brabus has retained the stock 1,301cc liquid-cooled twin-cylinder motor. It generated 180 BHP and 140 Nm of peak torque. Brabus has paired this engine with a six-speed gearbox with bi-directional quickshifter. The bike now gets a custom twin-barrel Brabus exhaust unit which replaced the stock Akrapovic exhaust.
