Porsche has unveiled the new 2023 911 Sport Classic. The Sport Classic is the second model in the company’s Heritage Design Collection. The new model uses the latest 911 Turbo as its base. The new 911 Sport Classic pays homage to the 1973 911 Carrera RS 2.7. Porsche will limit its latest creation to just 1,250 units worldwide.

2023 Porsche 911 Sport Classic – Exterior and Interior Highlights

The company has gone retro with the looks of the car. The most significant design element of the vehicle is the fixed ducktail spoiler. Furthermore, there are the black-centre Fuchs-style wheels. The wheels measure 20-inch at the front and 21-inch at the rear. The special edition car gets a model-exclusive Sport Grey Metallic colour. Additionally, there are two lighter grey stripes across the top. Other colour options include – Solid Black, Agate Grey Metallic and Gentian Blue Metallic.

The side of the car gets a ‘Porsche’ and racing-style number graphics. Customers can choose between 1 to 99 for the racing-style number graphics. Porsche intentionally applies them as decals. Using decals instead of paint allows one to remove it if they wish to. Other exclusive elements include gold-coloured badges and a carbon fibre reinforced plastic hood which dips in the centre. The hood design also matches the Sport Classic specific carbon double-bubble roof.

The interiors are another throwback to the 911s of yesteryear. The seats feature the Pepita houndstooth design with light Classic Cognac leather upholstery. The bottom half of the dashboard and the door panels also get the Classic Cognac leather treatment. Additionally, a thin piece of dark Paldao wood trim runs across the dashboard. Porsche designers include more minor details to make it more special. These include white needles and scale markings, and green-coloured numbering on the instrument cluster. The headrests are embossed and also feature a serial number badge on the passenger side.

2023 Porsche 911 Sport Classic – Powertrain and Performance Highlights

The new 911 Sport Classic uses the same 3.7-litre twin-turbo flat-six from the 992-generation Turbo S. The Turbo model produces 572 HP and 750 Nm. At the same time, the Turbo S model has 640 HP and 800 Nm of torque. However, in the Sport Classic, it is de-tuned to 542 HP and 600 Nm. In addition to this, the Sport Classic ditches the Turbo models’ AWD drivetrain and 8-speed dual-clutch automatic. Instead, it exclusively gets rear-wheel drive and a 7-speed manual gearbox. This makes the Sport Classic the most powerful 911 with a manual gearbox.

Porsche says the car gets revised engine mapping for the new layout. The car tips the scales at 1,570 kg, which is 70 kg lighter than the 911 Turbo. Porsche doesn’t have official performance figures yet. Although, given the lack of AWD, expect it to be slower than the 911 Turbo. Other standard features include ceramic composite brakes, Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), Rear-axle steering and revised Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). The model also lacks additional insulation in the cabin, letting you hear the special Sport Exhaust system better than before.
