Tata Motors has launched a new initiative towards sustainable mobility. The Indian carmaker has launched the Re.Wi.Re vehicle scrapping plant. It stands for Recycle with Respect and is the car maker’s first Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The facility was inaugurated by the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, Mr. Nitin Gadkari.
Under the upcoming new scrapple policy, the Government is looking at offering new incentives to customers who scarp their old cars. The movement has already begun at government offices where older cars are being scrapped and making way for newer automobiles.
The Plant has an annual capacity of processing 15,000 automobiles. Tata has said they will follow world-class, eco-friendly processes for safe and sustainable dismantling of end-of-life vehicles. The facility has been developed and operated by Tata Motors’ partner Ganganagar Vaahan Udyog Pvt. Ltd. The plant will scrap vehicles off all brands.
The state-of-the-art Re.Wi.Re facility has been designed with an aim of dismantling end-of-life passenger and commercial vehicles of all brands while ensuring de-pollutioning. The plant boasts of fully digitalised hassle-free, paperless operations. Moreover there are dedicated stations for safe dismantling of components such as tyres, batteries, fuel, oils, liquids and gases. Not to mention, the vehicles go through a stringent documentation and dismantling process. Each of the cars is dismantled by a specially curated process for passenger and commercial vehicles.
The RSVF or Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility has been designed to get the maximum value out of the scrap for future use. The process will also minimise waste generated. Further, this Re.Wi.Re. has been globally benchmarked and follows optimised recycling processes.
The carmaker is looking at setting up more such facilities across the country alongside their partners. These plants are set-up to help customers, share economic value generated and create employment opportunities while at the same time take care of the scrapping of vehicles.
