Sony Interactive Entertainment’s popular game series, Gran Turismo, has always featured the most popular Porsche sports cars since 2017. Developed by Polyphony Digital, the latest 7th edition of the game features Porsche’s recent Taycan Turbo S electric sports car. Keeping this in mind, Porsche has developed a new sports car specifically for the virtual gaming series.
Known as the Vision Gran Turismo, Porsche has thoroughly used its first concept study to create an exclusive game car. Players will be able to exclusively access and drive the new Porsche Vision Gran Turismo in Gran Turismo 7. Polyphone Digital has stated that it will release the car in-game on March 4th, 2022, for PlayStation 4 and 5.
Porsche has utilized its future-oriented design elements to create the Vision Gran Turismo for the renowned racing game. The exterior of the sports car features a sporty height-to-width ratio, an extremely low-set bonnet, and highly pronounced wings. At the front, the Vision Gran Turismo features small, quad headlights with integrated LED DRLs and air intakes.
Being an all-electric sports car, the Vision Gran Turismo borrows inspiration in terms of design and aerodynamics from the Taycan. At the rear, the electric sports car features a thin light bar with integrated LED taillights and a massive diffuser. The rear design of the Vision Gran Turismo is also similar to the design found on the 911 and Taycan.
Porsche has carefully constructed a bespoke interior for the Vision Gran Turismo, taking inspiration from its other models. The electric sports car features a curved, driver-centric hologram display that showcases vehicle information and floats above the steering wheel. Along with a low seating position, the Vision Gran Turismo’s interior uses a material consisting of carbon and titanium.
Additionally, the car features design-related interior themes along with new functions which enable players to experience a true electric sports car. Players will also experience strong haptic feedback via their controllers, which mimics the feel of a real steering wheel. Thanks to these features and developments, players will get the opportunity to experience the feedback of a real racing car.
According to Porsche, the Vision Gran Turismo uses an 87 kWh battery which sends power towards the electric motor. The motor produces 1100 PS of power during overboost and launch control which is sent to all four wheels. The Vision Gran Turismo can accelerate from 0-100 kph in 2.1 seconds and 0-200 kph in 5.4 seconds. Overall, the Vision Gran Turismo sports a top speed of 350 kph and a 500 Km driving range (WLTP).
