Camping with the Suzuki Jimny, but how?

Japanese camper conversion brand, White House Camper could be planning to convert the 5-door Jimny into a camping car. The company could be planning to cutaway the roof of the Jimny 5-door and fix to it a pop-up roof. According to sources, the project could be ready on paper and work could be in-progress as we write this article. However, images of the Jimny Pop Top is still not available. But, images of the blueprints have emerged on the internet and sources reveal that White House Camping could unveil the camper Jimny at the Tokyo Camper Show 2024.

Pop-Up Roof

The rendered images of the blueprint reveal that the Jimny 5-door which could be used as the base car, is likely to get its roof chopped, if not entirely then at least partially leaving the support structures intact. On top of the roof, another roof which could be made of fibreglass reinforced plastic could be added which would open using a scissor mechanism. This pop-up mechanism is likely to be motorised making it effortless to use.

The new roof is also likely to integrate a see through and breathable fabric, almost like a net from where the occupant will be able to enjoy the surroundings as well as get fresh and also prevent bugs and flies from entering the sleeping area. Rendering reveal that the pop-up roof will add about 150mm of height to the Jimny and when it is fully extended the SUVs height will reach 2815mm.

Tent for Two

The roof mounted pop-up camper is likely to accommodate two adults and will have the entry and exit from within the SUV, and may not require an external ladder, making it self content. However, Suzuki does not retail the 5-door Jimny in Japan as of now, so will White House Camping design, develop, manufacture and sell the pop-up tent kits to other countries where the Jimny 5-door is sold, such as India? And would you buy one for you Jimny in India?
