BYD has teased a new SUV. The fully camouflaged SUV appears to take on the likes of the Mercedes-Benz G-wagen. This SUV could be launched in China later in 2023 while other markets will get it by 2024.
The new SUV is the first from the carmaker’s F Series line-up. The F Series will later spawn other SUVs and pick-ups.
BYD has named it internally as SF. Further details are not yet available as BYD plans to launch it at the Shanghai Motor Show in April.That said, we know that the SUV will measure around 5,000 mm with a wheelbase of 2,850 mm. It will be based on a ladder-frame chassis.
The SF SUV will come with a hybrid powertrain. BYD will be offering a petrol-electric hybrid version on this rugged SUV. This combo will put out 671 HP, which will surpass the Mercedes-Benz G63. The SUV will come with an automatic transmission and a four-wheel-drive system. Power can be split between the front and rear axles as required and it will also get torque vectoring features. BYD has also said that the SF will come with front, rear and centre differential locks.
The brand has been retailing the Atto 3 EV SUV and the E6 EV MPV in India. The BYD Seal all-electric sedan will go on sale later this year. BYD has set an ambitious target of opening more than 53 showrooms by the end of 2023. The company is continuing in its technological innovations and wants to offer a better life and promote sustainable development of society. BYD will also implement its “Cool the Earth by 1°C” initiative.
The company is expanding its presence in India and has recently opened its 3rd passenger showroom in Bengaluru. The showroom will be run and managed by the VST Group.
