Chinese automotive giant, Build Your Dreams (BYD), has recently teased the launch of its new M6 electric MPV in India. This move marks another significant step in BYD’s expansion into the Indian passenger vehicle market, where it has already made a notable impact with its electric models, the Seal and Atto 3.
The teaser, which was released on BYD India’s official social media platforms, showcases a sleek LED headlight design, hinting at the sophisticated aesthetics of the upcoming M6. The teaser is accompanied by the caption “Transformation to a New Generation 7,” suggesting that the M6 will be a seven-seater vehicle.
The M6, which is an updated version of the E6 MPV, boasts several design enhancements. The front fascia features full-LED headlamps with a distinctive LED daytime running lamp signature. The headlamps are connected by a satin trim element adorned with BYD lettering, adding a touch of elegance. The front bumper has been redesigned with more sculpted air vents and chrome accents, enhancing the vehicle’s visual appeal.
At the rear, the M6 presents a bold new look with enlarged wraparound tail-lamps, complete with intricate LED detailing. The rear bumper has also been subtly refined, incorporating chrome inserts for added luxury. The profile remains largely unchanged, but the M6 is expected to debut a fresh set of alloy wheels.
Inside, the M6 has received significant upgrades. The cabin now features a larger 12.8-inch floating touchscreen display, replacing the previous 10.1-inch unit. The dashboard retains its familiar layout, with subtle revisions to the center console, including two wireless charging pads, new switchgear, and a sleek drive selector lever. A new steering wheel adds a touch of modernity, while the analogue instrument cluster remains a classic touch.
While specific details about the M6’s powertrain are yet to be revealed, it is expected to carry forward the electric efficiency that BYD is known for. The M6 is likely to offer a range that caters to both urban and long-distance travel needs, making it a versatile option for Indian consumers.
The M6 is expected to compete with other electric and ICE MPVs like the Toyota Innova, Toyota Hyryder and the Kia Carens in the India market. The launch of the M6 in India is anticipated to take place in September, aligning with the festive season, which is a peak time for automobile sales in the country.
