Currently, China’s BYD (Build Your Dreams) is one of the biggest EV makers in the world. In India as well, they are increasingly expanding their network and making bold moves. As of today, BYD has two electric cars on offer for the Indian market, namely e6 MPV and Atto 3.
Now BYD is all ready to launch their 3rd car. At the 2023 Auto Expo, BYD we saw the Seal electric sedan. Now BYD has officially listed Seal electric on the company’s official India website.
As of now, there is no mention of a launch timeline or pricing. The most highlighting takeaway from the website is the performance figure. The website says Seal can do a 0-100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. Meanwhile, in terms of range, BYD claims 700 km from a single charge.
For the global market, the motor configurations start from 204 BHP in the RWD config. This can be specced all the way to 530 BHP and 670 Nm in AWD config. With an aggressive pricing, say around INR 60 lakh (ex-sh), the BYD Seal is the perfect rival to Volvo XC40 Recharge and Kia EV6 GT Line.
As for the design, BYD Seal Electric has a very striking personality. With design features that include stylish alloys and sharp creases, Seal is eye candy for sure. On the inside, BYD carries forward the minimalistic design. The most notable feature is the giant centre touchscreen and a wide instrument screen. The seats get quilted patterns and extend to door pads as well. Windscreen and roof are different units, unlike in Tesla vehicles. But noteworthy to mention, BYD Seal gets a giant glass roof, which doesn’t open. BYD Seal EV also features flush door handles and smart-looking LED tail lights that give it a futuristic look.
