The recently launched BYD Seal EV has made a significant impact on the Indian electric vehicle market, garnering over 500 bookings within just 15 days of its launch. This impressive figure underscores the growing acceptance and demand for premium electric vehicles (EVs) in India.
Powering the BYD Seal are two powertrain options. The Dynamic variant comes with a 150 kW/310 Nm electric motor with rear wheel drive. The Dynamic version comes with a 61.4 kWh battery pack that offers a range of 510 km on the NEDC cycle. The Premium variant comes with a 230 kW / 360 Nm electric motor with rear wheel drive. The mid-spec variant features a 82.5 kW battery pack that offers an NEDC range of 650 km on a single charge.
The top-spec Performance variant comes with a 390 kW high-performance squirrel-cage induction electric motor. The electric motor with 4-wheel drive technology is capable of propelling the Seal electric vehicle from 0-100km/h in just 3.8 seconds. In addition to this, the BYD Seal in the Performance trim comes with a 82.5 kWh battery pack. The battery claims to offer a driving range of 570 km on a single charge.
Customers who book a BYD Seal by March 31, 2024, will receive benefits as per the booking policy which include a 7 kW home charger and installation service, a 3 kW portable charging box, a BYD Seal VTOL (Vehicle to Load) mobile power supply unit, 6 years of roadside assistance, and one complimentary inspection service.
The BYD Seal is offered in three variants – Dynamic, Premium, and Performance1. They are priced at ₹ 41 lakh, ₹ 45.55 lakh, and ₹ 53 lakh respectively. The Seal EV is available in four colour options – Aurora White, Cosmos Black, Atlantis Grey, and Artic Blue. The electric sedan has already scored a 5-star crash test rating through Euro NCAP and ANCAP.
BYD India is aiming towards making its sales and service network cover 90 per cent of the market, providing people access to EV technology and product experience in India. Apart from Seal EV, BYD also sells Atto 3 and e6 in the Indian market.
