Build Your Dreams, BYD for short could be planning to introduce three more electric vehicles for the Indian market. The New Energy Vehicle (NEV) manufacturer already has three EVs in its India portfolio. In addition to this, the brand is likely to add three more cars which will also help the brand expand itself to the mass market.
According to media reports, BYD plans to serve more than 85% of the Indian electric vehicle market. BYD also plans to locally assemble its electric vehicles which will reduce the end cost and also help the company scale its portfolio. Reports also reveal that the brand plans to become the world’s largest EV carmaker in the world by 2030.
Currently, BYD has the BYD e6 MPV, BYD Atto 3 5-seater EV and BYD Seal a luxury electric sedan. In addition to this, the brand plans to bring the BYD Seal U which is a PHEV or e-SUV, BYD Tang electric SUV, BYD Sea Lion SUV or the BYD Dolphin EV.
The brand recently launched the BYD Seal luxury electric vehicle with a very competitive price. If BYD localises its products in India, the benefits will likely transfer to the customer helping the company strengthen its sales volumes. Also, this will allow the company to enjoy the subsidies offered by the Government of India on electric vehicles.
BYD Seal, the latest introduction from BYD has already garnered 200 booking in just one day of its launch. The brand is offering the Seal EV with a starting price of INR 41 lakh ex-showroom. The Seal comes with three variants, two battery options, two power unit options, and two drivetrain options. In its base version, the BYD Seal comes with a 150 kW/310 Nm electric motor with rear wheel drive and an NEDC cycle range of 510 km on a single charge.
