In a landmark achievement, BYD, the world’s leading manufacturer of new energy vehicles and power batteries, became the world’s first automaker to roll off its 7 millionth new energy vehicle. The milestone vehicle, the DENZA N7, was unveiled at its Jinan factory in China, symbolizing another groundbreaking accomplishment for the brand.
BYD’s journey to 7 million new energy vehicles (NEVs) underscores its remarkable growth trajectory. From reaching its first million NEVs in May 2021 to hitting 3 million units by December 2022, the company has consistently pushed boundaries. Surpassing the 5 million mark in September 2023 and the 6 million milestone in November 2023 highlights its commitment to sustainable mobility solutions.
This achievement comes hot on the heels of the production of the 6 millionth NEV just a few months ago, showcasing BYD’s rapid pace of innovation and production. Notably, the company managed to accomplish the feat in just over three months after hitting the 6 million mark.
In 2023, BYD witnessed a meteoric rise in annual NEV sales, reaching an impressive 3.02 million units. The company’s aggressive expansion into international markets paid dividends, with a remarkable 337% year-on-year surge in overseas sales of new energy passenger cars. This surge catapulted BYD to the forefront of NEV exports, surpassing even industry titan Tesla.
BYD’s global footprint expanded significantly in 2023, with its NEVs making inroads into 64 countries and regions worldwide. The company’s strategic investments in manufacturing facilities across the globe, spanning from Thailand to Brazil, Uzbekistan, and Hungary, underscore its commitment to global sustainability initiatives.
