BYD India, the Indian subsidiary of the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD, has announced that it has started accepting bookings for its upcoming electric sedan, the Seal EV. The Seal EV is expected to be launched in India on March 5, 2024, and will be the third model from BYD India after the e6 electric MPV and the Atto 3 electric SUV.
Seal EV – What to Expect
The Seal EV is a premium electric sedan that boasts of a sleek design, a spacious cabin, and a powerful performance. According to BYD India, the Seal EV will be offered with an 82.5 kWh battery pack that can deliver a range of 570km on a single charge, as per the WLTP cycle. The battery pack is paired with a rear-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor that produces 230 hp and 360 Nm of torque. The Seal EV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.9 seconds and can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 37 minutes using a 150 kW fast charger. A standard 11 kW AC charger will take 8.6 hours to fully charge the battery.
Features
The Seal EV also comes with a host of features and technologies, such as a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a heads-up display, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless charging pad, a smart key, and a 360-degree camera. The Seal EV also supports over-the-air (OTA) updates and has a range of safety features, such as ABS, EBD, ESP, TPMS, and six airbags.
Seal EV Pricing?
BYD India has not revealed the booking amount or the price of the Seal EV yet, but it is expected to be around Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom). The Seal EV will be imported as a completely built-up (CBU) unit and will not have any direct rivals in the Indian market. However, it may compete with other electric vehicles in the same price range, such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5.
Booking Offer
As a part of its marketing strategy, BYD India is also offering an exclusive scheme for the Seal EV customers. BYD India is the official partner and official e-mobility partner of the UEFA European Football Championship 2024 (UEFA Euro 2024). Customers who book the Seal EV by April 30, 2024, will have a chance to win a complimentary UEFA match ticket and a round-trip flight ticket from India to the match city. BYD India will select a limited number of winners for this scheme.
