Shenzhen-headquartered Chinese car manufacturer BYD is testing the T3 Electric Cargo Van in India. Images of an electric cargo van have emerged on the internet. Sources report that BYD is testing the electric cargo van in Chennai. The test mule appears to be a complete import from China and is likely to be meant for commercial use only. The electric van is likely to be used for goods delivery which will help save on fuel and cut down on Carbon-Emissions.
According to the spy shots, the BYD T3 comes with an MPV appearance with sliding rear doors. The electric car gets a black grille on the front and upswept headlamps. The EV also comes with triangular fog lamp inserts lower air intakes to cool the battery, powertrain and braking components. The test mule also had glass windows on the second row but blank-outs on the third row, confirming its Commercial Van status. The Electric Van also gets alloy wheels, vertical taillamps and rear wash and wipe.
The BYD T3 Electric Van comes with a 100 kW power and 180 Nm torque AC Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor in the Singapore market. The electric motor draws power from a 50.3 kWh BYD Lithium-ion NCM Battery. The electric van features Hydraulic Disc Brakes with ABS & Regenerative Braking. The brand claims up to 300 km of range on a single charge. The brand also claims a top speed of 100 km/h and up to 20% of grade ability.
The BYD T3 measures 4,460 mm in length, 1,720 mm in width, 1,875 mm in height, and 2,725 mm of the wheelbase. The electric van can carry a maximum payload of 780 kg and a Gross Vehicle Weight of 2,420 kg. The commercial van takes 7.6 hours to charge from 0-100% on an AC charger and 1.3 hours on a DC fast charger.
The BYD T3 comes with features such as a 4.3-inch TFT Liquid Crystal Composite Instrument Display, Electronic Gear Selector and Parking Brake. The Van also comes with Keyless Entry, Start/Stop System and Selectable Regenerative Braking Control. Comfort and convenience features include Leather Seats, Automatic Climate Control and Automatic Headlights. The Van also comes with an Aluminium Chequered Plate in Cargo Area, 16-inch 5-Twin Spoke Alloy wheels and Driver & Front Passenger Airbags.
