BYD Atto 3 electric SUV for India, design sketches released

BYD has officially released a set of design sketches for the much-awaited Atto 3. BYD is all set to launch the electric SUV in India on October 11, 2022.

What Do The Sketches Suggest?

For the sketch we see Atto 3 sporting a blanked-out silver grille with sleek LED headlamps on either side. There is also a wraparound LED tail light with a light bar in the rear. The SUV gets a dual-tone exterior with a black roof, thus making it look quite sporty. The sketches also show the SUV using a set of dual-tone alloy wheels. All in all, from the sketches, the SUV does look quite striking and attractive.

We do have some details of the interiors as well. The interior of the Atto 3 looks quite futuristic with its wraparound dashboard design language. It gets a 12.8-inch touchscreen in the center. Interestingly, this can be rotated into portrait mode. This is quite innovative and revolutionary, not seen before.  The car gets a 3-spoke steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster, matching perfectly to the interiors’ overall package.

Mechanical Specifications

Powering the Atto 3 is a permanent magnet synchronous motor. The performance figure of this unit reads as 201 BHP and 310 Nm. With this, it can propel the car from 0-100 km/h in just under 7.3 seconds, blistering fast indeed. As per rumors, some reports suggest that the SUV will get a larger 60.48 kWh battery pack. With this, one can achieve a maximum claimed range of 420 km on the WLTP cycle. With the growing demand for SUVs, especially in the electric mobility segment, Atto 3 is an interesting offering. Speaking of the price tag, we estimate the SUV to fall in the price range of INR 30 to 35 lakhs. Thus Atto 2 would compete directly against the MG ZS EV, falling under the same price bracket.
