MG Motor India has launched the MG Hector Anniversary Edition in the Indian market with the starting price of INR 13.63 lakh ex-showroom for the Petrol Manual and INR 14.99 lakh ex-showroom for the Diesel manual. The MG Hector Anniversary model will come in limited numbers.
The MG Hector Anniversary Edition is based on the lower-mid spec Super trim and features added accessories such as wireless smartphone charging, panoramic sunroof, air purifier and Medklinn in-car cabin air treatment system. The Medklinn cabin sterilisation system features Cerafusion technology which creates active oxygen that is circulated in the cabin and Active Oxygen claims to eliminate 99.9% of all bacteria, viruses, allergens, moulds and bad odours in the air and on surfaces without using chemicals.
Other features such as 10.4-inch vertically oriented infotainment system, 7-inch coloured MID, LED headlamps, LED daytime running lights alloy wheels are retained. It also continues to feature safety equipment such as dual airbags, ABS, traction control, ESP, a rear-view camera and front and rear parking sensors.
The MG Hector Anniversary Edition is powered by a BS6 emission compliant 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine which produces 143 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque available in a manual gearbox. The Diesel model is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that produces 170 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed manual transmission option. The Petrol-Hybrid engine variant is not available on the Anniversary Edition.
The MG Hector competes with the likes of Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos in the mid-segment SUV space.
In other news, MG Motor India announced that the Introductory Period on the MG Hector Plus has come to an end and the prices on the Hector Plus have been increased in the range of INR 5,000 to INR 46,000 depending on the trim variant and the powertrain configuration. The MG Hector Plus is now priced starting at INR 13.74 lakh ex-showroom, India (except Kerala).
