Maruti Suzuki entered the commercial vehicle segment with the Super Carry LCV back in 2016 and has registered a 240% growth in three years. The brand has now launched an upgraded BS6 version of the Super Carry with S-CNG at the price of INR 5.07 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. The Maruti Suzuki Super Carry has become the first light commercial vehicle to be launched in the BS6 avatar along with a Flex-Fuel (petrol+CNG) powertrain.
The Maruti Suzuki Super Carry S-CNG comes with a Cab on Chassis design with a seating capacity of driver + 1 and a flat-bed on the rear. The exterior dimensions of the Super Carry measure 3800mm in length, 1562mm in width, 1883mm in height and a 2110mm wheelbase. The rear deck is 2183mm in length, 1488mm in width, 300mm in height and has a 625 kg payload carrying capacity along with 21% gradeability.
The Maruti Suzuki Super Carry S-CNG comes with a BS6 compliant 1.2-litre 4-cylinder G12B series SOHC Multi-Point fuel-injected petrol engine with S-CNG technology that delivers 64 Hp of power and 85 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed manual transmission. The S-CNG model features a 70-litre (water equivalent) CNG fuel tank along with a 5-litre petrol tank in case of assistance. The S-CNG kit is factory fitted and features dual interdependent ECUs (Electronic Control Units) and intelligent injection system and is specially tuned and calibrated to deliver optimum performance and driveability.
The BS6 emission conformity is in-line with the Government of India’s new stringent emission policies and the brand’s ‘Mission Green Million’ which is its commitment towards clean, green, eco-friendly mobility solutions. Furthermore, the S-CNG variant is also aligned with the Government of India’s vision of reducing oil import and enhancing the share of natural gas which is at 6.2% to 15% by 2030. To achieve this, the Government of India is rapidly increasing the number of CNG connectivity and has installed 477 CNG stations on average in the last year which is a growth of 56%, as compared to the 156 stations average in the last 5 years.
Maruti Suzuki recently also announced that the company will be selling the Tour range of vehicles through the Maruti Suzuki’s Commercial network. The brand’s Tour range which includes Tour H1 (hatchback), Tour H2 (hatchback), Tour S (sedan), Tour V (van) and Tour M (MPV) will be added to the commercial network which from now on will share its space with the Eeco Cargo van and Super Carry LCV.
