BS6 Honda Activa 125 Vs. Suzuki Access 125 Vs. Hero Maestro Edge 125 – Specification Comparison

The mid-level commuter segment with the 125 displacement engine has been gaining traction in the Indian market. Manufacturers have also brought in iteration of their entry-level ~100cc scooters with larger 125cc blocks and for this specification comparison, we have chosen the Honda Activa 125, the Suzuki Access 125 and the Maestro Edge 125. All three have been upgraded with BS6 compliant powertrains and come with add-on features as compared to their 100~110cc counterparts. 

Engine:

The Honda Activa 125 is powered by a BS6 emission-compliant 125cc single cylinder, air/fan-cooled engine which produces 8.5 PS of power at 6,500 rpm and 10.54 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm coupled to a CVT gearbox. The Suzuki Access 125 is powered by a BS6 emission-compliant all-aluminium 124cc, single-cylinder 4-stroke air/fan-cooled fuel-injected engine that produces 8.7 PS of power and 10 Nm of torque matched to an automatic gearbox. The Hero Maestro Edge 125 is powered by a BS6 compliant 125cc air/fan-cooled, single cylinder 4-stroke OHC engine with Programmed Fuel Injection that makes 9.1 PS of power and 10.4 Nm of torque matched to a Variomatic drive (automatic) with dry centrifugal clutch. While all three come with electronic fuel injection technology to conform to BS6 emission standards, the Honda Activa 125 claims to be the first 125cc scooter to receive the technology and attain BS6 conformity in the Indian market. 

Chassis, Suspension & Brake:

The Honda Activa 125 shares most of its mechanical parts with the Activa 6G and features an underbone chassis that rides on telescopic front fork suspension and 3-Step adjustable spring-loaded hydraulic shock absorber on the rear. While the Activa 6G comes with drum brakes on both ends, the Activa 125 features a 190mm hydraulic disc brake on the front and 130mm mechanical drum brake on the rear with the option of drum brakes on both ends. The Suzuki Access 125 comes with an underbone frame that rides on telescopic front and coil spring with hydraulic damper rear suspension. The Access 125 comes with the a hydraulic disc brake on the front and drum brake on the rear with the option of drum brakes on both ends. The Hero Maestro Edge 125 features comes with a 190mm hydraulic disc brake on the front and 130mm mechanical drum brake on the rear with the option of drum brakes on both ends. All three come with a CBS for safety. 

Features:

The Honda Activa 125 comes with sensor based fuel injection system along with globally acclaimed eSP technology that helps start the scooter silently using an ACG starting technology along with reduced frictional surfaces that help increase mileage by 10%. The Activa 125 also comes with idle start/stop system, LED headlamp, integrated pass switch, multifunction switch unit, external fuel filler, first in segment side-stand indicator with engine cut off, front glove box and advanced Digital Analogue meter. The Suzuki Access 125 features an all-new Bluetooth enabled digital console with smartphone connectivity & turn-by-turn navigation, LED daytime running lights, LED headlamps, Suzuki easy start system, external fuel filler, front pocket, UBS charging socket, dual luggage hooks and voltage meter on the fully digital instruments cluster. The Hero Maestro Edge 125 comes with LED insignia light, halogen headlamps with always-on function, digital-analogue combination meter with service indicator, combination lock, LED tail lamps, side stand indicator, mobile charging point with boot light, external fuel filler, i3S idle start stop technology etc. 

Price:

The Honda Activa 125 – Drum is priced at INR 69,470 ex-showroom, Delhi, Drum Alloy priced at INR 72,970 ex-showroom, Delhi and the Disc brake version if priced at INR 76,471 ex-showroom, Delhi. The Suzuki Access is priced starting INR 77,700 ex-showroom for the Drum Brake with Alloy Wheel model and INR 78,600 ex-showroom for the Disc Brake with Alloy Wheel. The Hero Maestro Edge 125 is priced starting INR 69,250 ex-showroom, Delhi for the Drum Brake Alloy Wheel, INR 71,450 ex-showroom, Delhi for the Disc Brake Alloy Wheel model and INR 72,950 ex-showroom, Delhi.
