BS6 compliant Maruti Suzuki Eeco launched for INR 3,80,800

Maruti Suzuki has launched the BS6 compliant model of the Eeco people mover in India. The updated Eeco has been announced for INR 3,80,800 ex-showroom and is a popular MPV in the mass market. The Eeco is the 9th BS6 model from the Maruti Suzuki stable coming to the market well ahead of the deadline. The Eeco managed sales of 1 lakh units in 2019, which happened for the first time accounting for 36% growth compared to wholesale sales in 2018.

Powering the Maruti Suzuki Eeco is a 1.2L petrol motor which is now BS6 compliant and produces 54 kW of power @ 6000 RPM and 98 Nm of torque @ 3000 RPM matched to a manual gearbox option only. This Eeco delivers 16.11 kmpl of mileage and obviously there is a bi-fuel CNG variant on offer. The car comes with features such as driver airbag, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, seat belt reminder and speed alert system.

The Eeco was first launched in January 2010 and so far has managed total sales of 6.5 lakh units. The Eeco might look like a very basic car, but that is the whole purpose by being simply and delivering enough space for the market that needs such a car. The Maruti Suzuki Eeco commands 87% market share in the budget van segment. The brand reveals that 84% of the Eeco car buyers have already made a decision to buy the car when they enter the showrooms. This budget car accounts for 50% buyers coming to take one home for business, while the others are family car buyers.

Maruti Suzuki retails the Eeco van in a total of 12 variants which include 5-seater, 7-seater, Cargo and Ambulance cabin configurations. Features include CNG bi-fuel option, clear headlamps, reclining seats, headlamp levelling, sliding doors for easy access and a cabin which maximises volume to carry cargo.
