Volvo has revealed that bookings are now open for their all-new entry level SUV, the XC40 here in India. The XC40 is gaining popularity worldwide and is already the European car of the year 2018. This new SUV rivals the likes of BMW X1, Audi Q3 & Mercedes-Benz GLA. The XC40 is expected to be priced close to INR 40-42 lakh and will be available only in 1 R-Design variant.
Volvo is currently allocating 200 units for sale here in India, and are confident, that this number would be breached during the pre-launch period itself. The XC40 is surely a breath of fresh air in the segment with its typical SUV styling unlike the crossover-ish competition.
The Volvo XC40 is a level 2 autonomous car, which none of its competitors are. So even though the pricing might not be as low as the stripped down variants of the competition, the Volvo XC40 makes a strong case for itself by offering features which justify the price tag.
Powering the Volvo XC40 would be a single engine option. The D4 R-Design variant comes with a 2.0L, turbo-diesel motor producing 190 HP of power and 400 Nm of torque matched to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The Volvo XC40 also gets an Haldex AWD system.
Volvo is expanding its network in India this year. But the brand will try to keep a sensible number of outlets in a bid to have healthy sales margins for each dealer rather than having multiple dealers within the same city fighting for the same customer. Volvo cars are loaded with tech, for each car in its respective segment, it offers much more. Will the hearsay audience blindly buying German cars have Volvo in their consideration list here in India? Time will tell…
