Tata Motors has announced that the brand has opened bookings for the BS6 emission compliant Tata Harrier. Customers can now book the Tata Harrier BS6 variant for an amount of INR 30,000 by visiting Tata Motors authorised dealership or by visiting the Tata Motors website.

The Tata Harrier is based on the OMEGARC (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced Architecture), a derivative of the Land Rover’s D8 platform. The BS6 emission compliant Harrier is powered by a Kryotec170 diesel engine that produces 170 PS of power. The BS4 compliant engine on the Harrier, the Kryotec 2.0-L Turbocharged Engine makes 140 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque. The major change in this new variant apart from the more powerful engine will be the much-awaited automatic gearbox option. The Automatic transmission range on the Harrier comes equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission and will be available on the XMA, XZA and XZA+ trim variants. Also, the XZ and XZA+ variants will come with features like Panoramic Sunroof, 6-way powered driver seat with adjustable lumbar support, auto-dimming rear view mirrors and two-tone diamond-cut 17-alloy wheels. The outside rearview mirrors on the BS6 Harrier have been redesigned for better aerodynamics. The BS6 compliant Harrier also comes in a new colour – ‘Calypso Red’.

In terms of the exterior dimensions, the Harrier is 4598mm in length, 1894mm in width and 1706mm tall. The SUV comes with a 2741mm wheelbase and 425 litres of boot space.

In terms of safety, the Tata Harrier gets 2 Airbags (Driver, Co-Driver), rear parking sensor, manual central locking, ABS with EBD, seat belt reminder (Driver & Co-Driver) and now the BS6 model comes equipped with ESP (electronic stability programme) as standard across all variants. On the BS4 variant, ESP is available only on the XZ top-end trim along with other safety features such as 6 Airbags (Driver, Co-Driver, Seat Side & Curtain), Child Seat ISOFIX anchor points, Hill Hold Control, Hill Descent Control, Roll Over Mitigation, Corner Stability Control, Electronic Traction Control, Hydraulic Brake Assist, Brake Disc Wiping, etc.

In terms of competition, the Harrier sits in the heavily contested mid-SUV segment with competitors like MG Hector, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur and Nissan Kicks.
