Bookings open for 3rd-gen Volvo S60 in India, priced at INR 45.90 lakh

Volvo Car India has announced that the new S60 sedan is now open for bookings via their online sales platform. The third-gen S60 is priced at INR 45.90 and this price is applicable for a limited time period for the bookings done online only.

For the exteriors, we must confess that the new S60 just looks stunning. The headlights which are beautifully designed to resemble the Thor’s Hammer and do catch a lot of attention. The long bonnet with a distinctive sport chin along with a rear-end which is similar to S90 will turn a lot of heads while being on the road. The sedan is underpinned by the Scalable Platform Architecture which is proved to have a very strong structural rigidity.

The new S60 is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine producing 300 Nm of torque and 190 HP of power which is channelled to the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox. There is no diesel option in this car which is in tune with Volvo’s stand to make only petrol engines and will possibly switch to all-electric in the coming years. The car can sprint from standstill to 100 kmph in around 9 seconds and the top speed has been limited to 181 kmph.

The Volvo brand is synonymous with safety and the S60 is no different. In the Euro NCAP crash test it received the highest rating of 5 and gets all the high tech safety features including adaptive cruise control, radar and sonar-based emergency braking, a semi-autonomous mode and more. The tablet-style infotainment system takes up most of the space on the dashboard and thus Volvo S60 does away without many physical buttons which can be bummer for few. The ones who like to be chauffeur driven and occupy the rear-seats most of the time will find themselves at a lot of comfort with ample legroom, four-zone climate control and a large sunroof on the top.

S60 will take on the other premium sedans in its segment having the likes of BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C-Class, Audi A4 and more but, with a thin service network, Volvo will only find its customers for the new S60 in the few 1st-tier cities only.
